Andy Warhol

Renowned pop artist Andy Warhold was known for his infamous portraits of American icons. In 1986, Barbie appeared in what was his very last portrait. It was meant to depict artist and designer BillyBoy*, Warhol’s longtime muse. But when asked to be the subject, Billy, an avid Barbie collector, responded, “Well if you really want to do my portrait, do a portrait of Barbie because Barbie, c’est moi.” So Warhol did.
